Mackenzie’s Account

“…Faithfully represented to Rectifie  the mistakes and supply he omissions of Mr Walker’s account.”

This is a first edition of Rev John MacKenzie’s account of the Siege, ‘A Narrative of the Siege of London-Derry, or the late memorable transactions of that City.

The Historian Thomas Witherow , writing about the diary in ‘Derry and Enniskillen in the Year 1689’ said “ Had it not been for it, we should never have known the names of the original apprentices, nor the conduct of Murray on the memorable day that the government of Lundy was overset, nor the circumstances which led to the appointment of the Council of Fourteen, nor the true position of Walker in the city, nor many other particulars not of much importance in themselves but of great interest to all who wish to know what really occurred”
